If you are planning to visit any part of Canada it would be a shame if you didn't
experience Ice Hockey. For the Canadians ice hockey is the most celebrated
of sports and the only analogy that can be drawn to compare their fanaticism
is with Europeans and soccer.
In Vancouver the local team is the Vancouver Canucks. There has always
been a rich ice hockey tradition in Vancouver. In 1970 with the introduction of
the NHL this tradition blossomed although they haven't won a Stanley Cup
since that time.
The Canucks play their home games at the GM Place with has a capacity of
18,422. Even though this is a sizeable stadium don't expect to turn up at the
GM Place and expect to get a ticket as many of the games are completely
sold out months in advance.
The team colours are deep blue, deep red, sky blue and silver. The list of
Canuck sponsors is too long to mention but it does include such noticeable
companies as Sony, Mc Donald's and Warner Brothers. If you are in Canada
and you can get tickets for a game it is well worth a trip.
